Coach Jake, 17s Boys Assistant Coach

Coach Jake Cady, also known as Coach Jake, began his volleyball journey in 2020, inspired by friends and the anime Haikyuu. From the moment he joined a local league, he was captivated by the sport. Since then, volleyball has become his second home, leading him to compete in various leagues and tournaments, including No Panic’s Men’s Travel Team and multiple A/AA Men’s teams. His passion for volleyball and commitment to learning and improving make him a dedicated coach.

Coaching Experience

  • Head Coach, Boys' 17s team (2022-23 season)
  • Assistant Coach, No Panic’s JDP (since late 2021)
  • Mentor for youth and adult volleyball players since early 2022

Playing Experience

  • Started in 2020, joining a social league in early 2021
  • Competed with NP Teamstyles and Men’s Travel Team (2021-2022)
  • Sub/Free-agent for multiple A/AA Men’s teams (2022-2024)

Coaching Philosophy

Coach Jake emphasizes the importance of strength and conditioning, alongside skill and game IQ development. He believes that stamina and defensive skills are essential to maximize every opportunity on the court. For Coach Jake, volleyball is a true team sport where success comes from each player enhancing what the team can do as a whole. He instills the mindset that rough moments are chances to turn a bad play good or a good play great, fostering resilience and accountability.

With a focus on building on-court IQ and advanced techniques, Coach Jake prepares his players with the skills and mental readiness to succeed at any level. His experience as an adult player enhances his coaching approach, giving players the tools they need for long-term growth.

Coach Jake aims to support the growth of volleyball players of all ages in the region, recognizing that everyone’s journey is unique. Having started later in life himself, he believes that a passion for the sport should be nurtured, regardless of age or experience. His goal is to help players achieve their best, regardless of when they begin their volleyball journey.

Fun Fact About Coach Jake

In college, he worked as a camp counselor, managing groups of young boys each week. This experience taught him valuable skills in balancing encouragement for both physical and mental challenges—skills he now brings to his volleyball coaching.
